Ayodhya Bhoomipujan; Bahujan should follow path of Babasaheb instead of getting into all such matters :Mayawati

BSP President Mayawati on Friday said it would have been better had an invitation been extended to “Dalit Mahamandaleshwar” Kanhaiya Prabhunandan Giri for the ‘bhoomi pujan’ ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5, adding that it “would have had some impact on the Constitutional intention of setting a casteless society”.

This comes after reports in sections of the media that Prabhunandan Giri was unhappy over not being invited to the event.

In a tweet in Hindi, Mayawati wrote,”In view of the complaint of Dalit Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kanhaiya Prabhunandan Giri, it would have been better if he had been invited along with the other 200 saints at the Bhoomipujan ceremony to be held in Ayodhya on 5 August. This could have had some impact on the constitutional intention of creating a casteless society in the country.”

At the same time, the BSP chief advised the Bahujan community to distance themselves from such matters and “focus on work by walking on the path shown by Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar”.

In another a tweet in Hindi, Mayawati wrote,”By the way, the Dalit society suffering from casteism , contempt and injustice should focus more on deeds for their own salvation instead of getting into these matters and in this case all should also follow the path given by their Messiah Param Pujya Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. This is his advice from BSP.”

The remarks came in the wake of allegations by Prabhunandan Giri that he was not invited to the event possibly out of apprehensions that his visit would make the temple “apavitra” (impure).
